Overture, adding midi controllers
Before we begin this lesson, I am assuming that the reader has already read the mod wheel tutorial and knows how to open the graphics window. If not please refer back to here Graphics window.
Once again, use the back arrow in your web browser when flipping back and forth between the pictures and text.
This is a tutorial on how to create more controllers in Overture. When you first load Overture, you may find that the controllers available are pretty limited. If you are using a program such as GPO you will need to create more controller numbers to control the different radio dials in the kontakt player. Examples; Var1 cc 22 or length cc 21.
To do this we need to define the controllers.
1=Open Overture. Under options, at the top of the screen select Instruments.
2=Select Define then click on the controller Names folder to expand it.
3=Expand standard. Here is where we can create controllers. Go down the list and right click on the next lowest number from the controller number you want to add. We are working with 22 so click the next lowest number visible. When you right click choose New name. The first number is the controller number, change it to the controller you want. In our case it is 22. So it should read 22=22 GPO Var1 You can keep adding all the controllers that you want with this same method. Just remember that the first number is telling Overture what controller you are creating.
To get a complete list of the controllers that GPO uses, please refer to the new Gpo update pdf help file. Now that you have created the controllers you can go to the same place that the mod wheel is located in the graphics window and select the new controller . Draw in the values at the bottom just like the mod wheel. Gpo Var1 controller.
